Planex

For this project we collaborated with renowned artist Delvene Cockatoo-Collins and Planex on a custom locker design project for the QUT Carumba Institute Oodgeroo Unit. This project was a unique opportunity for us to bring together our expertise in design translation with the creativity and cultural heritage of Delvene to create a functional and aesthetically pleasing piece of art that reflects the rich cultural heritage of the First Nations people.

The QUT Carumba Institute Oodgeroo Unit is located in a region with a rich cultural history, surrounded by stunning natural landscapes that have been an integral part of the lives and stories of the First Nations people for generations. The custom locker design we created is a tribute to this rich cultural heritage, with Delvene's artwork serving as the centerpiece of the design.

Working closely with Delvene and Planex, we sought to understand the cultural context and significance of the surrounding landscape and incorporate segments of Delvene's artwork into each the design outcome. Delvene's deep knowledge and understanding of First Nations culture and history was invaluable in this process, and her creativity and passion for her heritage were evident throughout her process.

In addition to the locker design, the custom artwork by Delvene was also incorporated into various site integrations, including textiles, wall decals, and safety strip art. This allowed us to bring the beauty and cultural heritage of the surrounding First Nations people into other areas of the QUT Carumba Institute Oodgeroo Unit, creating a cohesive and visually stunning environment that celebrates the richness of their culture.

We are proud to have been a part of this project and are grateful for the opportunity to work with Delvene and Planex. The custom locker design we created for the QUT Carumba Institute Oodgeroo Unit will serve as a lasting tribute to the First Nations people and their cultural heritage for many years to come.
